And yet he's apologizing anyway. That said, he was absolutely oblivious. Because Nida had tried to make sure of it, way back when.

"I'm going to anyway. It makes this all feel like a dream."

Ignis moved them away from the others and looked into Nida's eyes. "We've kissed out on the balcony and have danced quite a bit." A small smile appeared after a moment. "And yet you're still convinced you're dreaming?"

"Yes," Nida assures him, smiling that little bit up at Ignis. His eyes, Astrals they are so impossibly beautiful. "Because it's happening. Something I've wanted for years, and didn't dare hope for."

After slightly laughing self consciously, Ignis shook his head. "I'm just a person, same as you." Titles and all that aside, he really wasn't all that important in the grand scheme of things. Their mission had been successful and it all worked out as it had been planned. That of course didn't count for all the improvisations they'd had to do but it was all done.

Time for new things and new experiences and feelings.

"A beautiful person," Nida agrees, his voice filled with amusement. Not words he would have said sober of course.

"You are stunning."

"Then I will indeed remind you of those words but I thank you for the kindness in them." Like if he got aggravated with Ignis or something. And he wished he could get Nida off of the topic of himself, it wasn't a comfortable subject at least in his own eyes.

And since they were on the dance floor, still in full view of everyone he couldn't even break it with a kiss. "Thank you for believing that of me. Would you like to take a break for a few moments?" More like he really wanted to walk with Nida and talk to him more without worrying about the audience.

Oh. He said them. Nida's flushed with embarrassment. He said it.

"Yes," he says, a bit flustered. "A break would be nice. Food, too."

"Splendid." Ignis smiled. That flustered face was adorable and the advisor chose to refrain from walking hand in hand with the man. Instead he simply walked beside as they headed over to get food.

Of course he was aware of Prompto's looming presence wanting to get the scoop for the boys. But one look of the green eyes in the photographer's direction was enough to convey the message of not to bother them. Ignis didn't want any of them scaring this gentleman off even if accidentally.

And naturally he let Nida get his food first.

Nida strolled casually at the other man's side, and tries not to be too nervous. But his steps aren't as steady as they had been. If only he could, you know, go back and get rid of the drink.

"Thanks," Nida says as he starts gathering things onto a plate. But not too much of one. He doesn't want to eat too much.

"Of course." Ignis smiled. He wondered what this was going to be like in the morning. And while he didn't like the idea of liquid courage so to speak, he was grateful that he got some insight as to how Nida thought and felt. If that hadn't been added, who knew how long it might take to hear words such as he was hearing tonight.

The two might even still be playing cat and mouse as they had been earlier tonight.

It was definitely going to be an adventure, wasn't it? The morning could change so many things. And, at the same time, it might change nothing.

"So, where now?" Nida asks, with a plate filled.

"Let's go back to the balcony and away from so many eyes." Ignis suggested, sliding emerald daggers at Gladio. Honestly the lads were standing around gawking at him like they'd never seen him dance before in his life.

"Eyes?" Nida asks. Only to turn. And see... Oh Astrals. Gladio. The Shield and thus head of the Crownguard staring at him. Geez.

"If only the Queen would have mercy and spare me their attentions," Nida groans. Something told him he was going to be getting a lot more attention during standard shifts from now on.

"That can be arranged." Ignis muttered as he continued to glare occasionally back over his shoulder. "I'm quite sure they simply have questions."

That he totally wasn't going to be inclined to give answers to. And if Nida paid the price the advisor would find out about it.

"I guess we all do at this point," Nida admits with a shrug. "That's just what it is, isn't it?"

TOnight was about questions. Asking them. Answers could come later.

"You'd think that you don't dance from the way they stare."

"I suppose." Ignis replied, trying to keep an eye on Nida in case he needed help. And after they sat back down, he was quiet, lost in thought as he ate. But his mind never stopped going and he looked at Nida. "I can escort you to your room whenever you're ready to retire for the evening."

"An escort?" Nida asks, and then he laughs.

Here he was, Kingsglaive, a guardian of the royal line and the people important to the nation. And he's the one being escorted.

"I think I'd like that."

"To make sure you get back to your room of course." Ignis smiled. Really he didn't want to find out something had happened to the man which had prevented him from getting to his room safely. Especially not when it could have very easily been skirted in the first place had the advisor taken an extra few minutes out of his night.

But he smiled when Nida agreed to it. "Then an escort it will be."

Secretly he liked the idea anyhow, because it would be as if he was walking the man home even if it wasn't far. And then the calculating part of his mind went off which would involve talking to Gladio and perhaps Noct to see if the Glaive could get the day off.

"Well, once I finish this plate, we can go," he says, smiling. "My shift is over."

Not that he wanted to leave the party. but if he slept and rested, then he could wake up and see if Ignis was real.

"Alright."

Ignis finished what he had and wondered how the other would act tomorrow. Certainly there wouldn't be as much insight as there had been this evening to how the man felt, but at least he knew which was more than he could've said at the start of the evening.

He checked his watch and nodded. "I'll come to you around eleven which should give you plenty of time to sleep. Or I could simply have you text me to let me know when you're awake if you prefer." That gave Nida the chance to say yes or no to having his phone number.

But really there was no point in thinking the other would be awake if he wasn't, and knocking on the man's door would be rude if he was still asleep or not up to going out due to being hungover.

"Uh... I could text you," Nida says, a bit shy. He could have Ignis's number. That was exciting. "Is that okay?"

He looks so nervous over this, reaching for his phone.

His eyes crinkled with unexpressed mirth as Nida seemed shy all of a sudden. But he waited until the other had his phone and he gave his own number and had the man test text him to make sure it worked.

Once it was successful, he nodded. "Just text me when you're awake and then you can text me when you're ready to go." That would make it easier on Nida in the advisor's eyes.

Ignis's number in his phone would mean that it was real, so Nida handed over his phone.

"Here," he said, smiling.

That smile was adorable and it made it tough for Ignis to concentrate on putting his number in the other's phone. But somehow he got it done and handed it back. Fussing a little, he looked over at Nida.

"Send me a text if you would please."

And of course Ignis had pulled out his own phone.

Oh, yeah, that's fair too. Nida quickly types out a text, with just his name and which room in the Citadel was his. Not to flirt or anything. But so Ignis could find his way tomorrow.
